Zahara de los Atunes
Cádiz
Zahara de los Atunes is one of those coastal towns where the landscape still reigns. Its beaches, open to the Atlantic and backed by dunes and countryside, stretch for kilometers with little urbanization in sight. Perfect for long walks, peaceful swims, and sunsets where the horizon becomes almost infinite.
The town retains its fishing atmosphere linked to the almadraba, an ancient technique for catching bluefin tuna that continues to mark the local gastronomic season from spring to early summer. Restaurants and beach bars prepare tuna in all its forms, from classic tataki to traditional stews.
The best season to try almadraba bluefin tuna is from April to June. If you visit in August, it's advisable to book both accommodation and restaurants in advance.
Zahara is the Costa de la Luz in its purest form: open beaches, Atlantic winds, and a table where bluefin tuna reminds us that the sea is also a pantry.
LIVVO Tip: A great spot to try red tuna in season.
